‘Top Tips on Tipper’ Cycle Training UK working with G F Gordon Plant Hire Ltd

Cycle Training UK are pleased to announce that they are working with haulage company Gordon Plant to increase awareness between cyclists and drivers of tipper lorries under the banner ‘Sharing the Road’.

Gordon Plant has a large fleet of tipper lorries that operate in and out of London, extensively on the Crossrail projects. The partnership launch last week showcased one of Gordon Plant’s new lorries which has been jointly branded and includes safety tips for drivers and cyclists on the side panels. The lorry includes the latest safety design features including improved cameras which respond to driver’s truck manoeuvres (zooming left, right etc) and additional sensors that effectively eliminate the ‘driver blind spot’.

Cycle Training UK will be working with Gordon Plant on a number of initiatives. Head of Training and Development, David Dansky will sit in on a lorry to experience pick-up and delivery and the view from the cab in Central London. This will help to inform cycle training messages about sharing the road with lorries. Gordon Plant will have 1:1 cycle urban riding training and over the next months all the drivers will get Transport for London’s Safe Urban Driving CPC training which includes practical on-bike training on roads.

‘We are excited to be part of this initiative where we can gain mutual understanding – this can only lead to better cooperation and reduced risk on our roads" David Dansky, CTUK Head of Training

‘We are constantly striving to improve our road safety and we are very hopeful this initiative will help us to continue to improve" Arran Gordon, GF Gordon Plant Hire Ltd
